The advice on this site

The guides and answers here are general information about common heating, boiler and plumbing problems. They are written to help you understand what you are being told, not to diagnose your particular appliance, which nobody can do without seeing it.

Never work on gas yourself. It is illegal for anyone who is not Gas Safe registered to work on gas appliances or gas pipework in the UK, and it is dangerous. If you can smell gas, leave the building and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Quotes, prices and bookings

Nothing on this website is a quotation or an offer to contract. Submitting a form, using the Ember assistant or sending a WhatsApp message is a request for us to get in touch; it does not confirm a booking. A booking exists once we have agreed a date with you directly.

Prices are given after we understand the job, and are confirmed to you before any work begins. Any change to the agreed price is discussed with you before it is incurred.

Guarantees

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. Parts and appliances carry the manufacturer's own warranty, whose terms are set by them — these commonly require annual servicing by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The workmanship guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by others, faults arising elsewhere in the system, or work we advised against. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Availability

We aim to keep this site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it is free of errors or never offline. Response times described on this site, including same-day attendance, are what we aim for rather than a contractual commitment, and depend on demand and location.
